Bread and butter, deconstructed

We had a wonderful lunch on Arcachon Bay overlooking Cap Ferret. Not to be confused with Hotel du Cap Ferrat on the Riviera. Cap Ferret seems to me to be like a Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket — fairly recently discovered by the glitterati but generally very rural and low key. Of course, I had oysters. The surprise was the bread that you can see in the pictures below. It had been sliced into pieces then “pasted” back together with a mortar of butter. Interesting and delicious.

Buffed tea-maker

From Michelle (Obviously): A buff young man preparing tea in the four-month old spa at the Regent Grand Hotel de Bordeaux & Spa.  From the roof-top terrace you can see the entire city or just sit in the outside jacuzzi.  The premises are Medusa gone wild with silks of merry-go-round colors and leopard-spotted carpets.  WOW!

Events seem to follow us around

Last week we collided with fashion week in Paris, this week Evento in Bordeaux. It’s a bit like Zero One in San Jose. Less tech but same spirit. This photo is of performance art on the facade of our hotel. Who knows what San Sebastian may hold.
